One thing that COVID 19 has taught us about UK universities’ approach to international engagement is the critical importance of diversifying across countries and regions. One such market is Morocco where the youth population is rapidly adopting English language, facilitated by increased access to internet and language apps. Morocco’s growing status as an economic and cultural bridge between Europe and Africa, and its importance as an international education market - being the second largest sender of international students on the continent of Africa (behind only Nigeria) is creating a favourable environment for TransNational Education.
To assess the TNE opportunities and barriers facing UK universities in Morocco, the British Council conducted a study comprising extensive desk-based research, interviews with key stakeholders in Morocco and online focus groups with students.
The British Council report ‘Understanding TNE opportunities and barriers in Morocco’ is due for release on 26th October 2021. The main findings of the research will be presented via webinar, including a panel discussion and Q&A with policy makers and HE practitioners from the UK and Morocco.
